ALA DOMESTIC HOUSING UPDATE

Encouraging news! During enrollment season back in early spring, 17 domestic students were in need of housing for the '24-'25 school year. We now only have 6 (3 returning students and 3 freshmen) domestic students who still need host families! (These figures do not include international students.) We praise the Lord for His goodness in helping us line up families from out of town with local ALA families.

We still need help from YOU!

1) PRAY!! Please pray for families to come forward to help us fill this need. Every year for four decades now, the Lord has faithfully met these needs. Wouldn't it be wonderful if EVERY housing student this year found out who their host would be by MID SUMMER instead of the week before school? (Yes, that happens frequently!)

2) Read about our individual students needing housing. Since pairing families by activities or age is often helpful, here's a heads up on available students:
  • 2 Jr girls (interests: art/softball; drama),
  • 1 So girl (softball),
  • 2 Fr girls (wrestling/softball; volleyball/basketball),
  • 1 Fr boy (cross country/STEM).
We have letters from most of these students so you can "get to know" them!! Email: hartzell@ALAcoyotes.org for more info.

3) Truly consider if you can host.
  • Visit our hosting page to read about compensation and more.
  • Have a phone conversation with Benjy Wells or Margy Hartzell to answer any questions.

4) Think of other families who might be a good fit to host even if you can't. Not everyone will read this — we need networking at its best!!

5) Debunk the myths.
  • Housing students do NOT need their own room, a full dresser, or their own bathroom.
  • They DO need
    • a bed,
    • a drawer/shelf,
    • a seat at your table and in your car,
    • and a loving family who will treat them as one of their own. Include them in your chaos!
We are more than happy to help determine what space or arrangements might be needed.
