WELCOME to our NEWEST COYOTE

We're pleased to announce the arrival of a healthy baby boy, Luke, born on Sunday to Sheldon and Isabelle Habben. We thank God for his safe arrival! He was baptized on Monday by Pastor Ross Else, and there will be a reaffirmation of baptism in church when families arrive. Mom and baby are doing well and glad to be safe at home. May God keep Luke in his baptismal grace all the days of his life.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 NIV

OCT. 22 LATE START

There is a LATE START on Wednesday, October 22.

CALLS RECEIVED

Two of our teachers have received calls to serve at other schools:
  • Mr. Justin Ohm has received a call to serve as athletic director at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm, Minnesota.
  • Pastor Brad Bode has received a call to serve as campus pastor and religion teacher at Hope Christian Academy (grades 6-12) in Westland, Michigan.

What is a Divine Call?
The Lord, through the church, calls people to serve in the public ministry.

The Call Process
When a school experiences a vacancy or needs to call another pastor or teacher, it requests a list of qualified candidates from the president of the WELS district in which the school is located. The district president will generally ask what the specific needs or challenges in the school are and will then send the school a list of somewhere between three and six or seven people who have the qualifications for the office in which the school wants the individual to serve. The Board of Directors then meets and prayerfully select one of the candidates to receive a call to serve in their midst and send the call with accompanying information to that individual.

When a pastor or teacher receives a call they must decide between the call they have in the congregation or school where they are currently serving and the call they have just received. They will look at the needs of both ministries and consider the particular gifts God has given them for serving in the ministry. They will prayerfully consider where with their particular gifts they can best serve the kingdom of God. They will also seek the advice of their brothers in the ministry, the district president(s), the people they serve, and the people who are calling them to serve.

With that, please consider reaching out to those who hold calls:
(1) Ask about the ministry where he/she is called
(2) Share your thoughts on what gifts you see in him/her
(3) Let the person know you are praying for him/her

Ohm@ALAcoyotes.org
Bode@ALAcoyotes.org

You are also encouraged to pray for clarity in their decision-making as they consider where God would best have them serve.

Student Council is planning a student dance on Saturday, October 18. Parents, please note the following points:

  • The dance begins at 7pm, and entrance to the dance will be open 7-7:30pm. Students will not be able to come and go; once at the dance, they will stay at the dance.
  • Tickets to the dance are $10/person at the door. Cash and card will be accepted.
  • Music and dancing will be kept appropriate and in line with Christian values.
  • The dance ends at 10pm.
    • If parents are picking up after the dance, please be prompt.
    • If students are driving, they will leave the dance at 10pm.
    • Parents, please know what your child's plans are after 10pm.
  • Students do not need to have a date to attend this dance. We encourage all students, grades 9-12, to come and have fun with their friends!
  • If your child wishes to bring a date from a different high school, your student will need to speak with Mr. Romsdahl by 3pm, October 15. This must be a date, not just any person from outside of AZ Lutheran.
  • Dress code will be semi-formal and will adhere to our AZ Lutheran Dress Code. See page 22 of the Parent/Student Handbook.
    • Semi-formal means that guys wear a dress shirt and pants (no tie required), and girls may wear semi-formal dresses (no cleavage or midriff exposed, length or dress slit must be modest—according to the dance attire code on page 22)
    • Guests must also follow this dress code. You or your child will need to let the guest know about the dress code.
    • We do not wish to turn anyone away at the door. Parents, we thank you for your diligence in guiding your child's decisions about attire.
Student Council is looking forward to this culminating Homecoming event. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Romsdahl at Romsdahl@ALAcoyotes.org.

  • No need to register; we will follow an Open House format.

FAFSA INFOMATION FOR PARENTS OF SENIORS

The 2026-27 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now open and available for you to complete. Any senior planning to attend college next year (at a 4-year college, community college, or trade school) should apply. Both parents and students must create Federal Student Aid accounts and complete their portion of the FAFSA form. You can create that account and complete your FAFSA at the following link: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

By completing the FAFSA, students can receive government financial aid in the form of Pell Grants, loans and work study. In addition, colleges use this form to determine eligibility for “in house” financial aid and scholarships, so you should still complete the FAFSA even if you don’t think you’ll qualify for federal aid. It is best if you complete the FAFSA as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out on any opportunities.
For help with completing this form, please refer to the information provided here. You can also email Mrs. Stahmann at guidance@alacoyotes.org with basic questions.
