PARKING NOTICE FOR WED. OCTOBER 28

There is a grade school kickball event on our campus tomorrow. We need to keep the parking lot open for visitors. All staff and students will park in the corner lot north of campus. You will enter and exit through the north gate, not by the regular school entrance. Parents can still drop off and pick up in the main parking lot using our normal procedure.

CAREER DAY - JUNIORS AND SENIORS PLAN AHEAD!

On Thursday, November 5, we will be holding the second annual Coyote Career Day for our juniors and seniors. That day, from 2:30-3:30pm students will interact with professionals from a wide variety of careers, learning about their career paths, educational backgrounds, and workplace experiences. This is a great opportunity for students to explore potential careers, ask questions, and gain valuable insight into the variety of opportunities available for their future.

A couple of important points to note for that day: juniors and seniors will be expected to stay and participate until 3:30pm. Please plan accordingly for rides that day. Sports practices will be adjusted to allow for the event. All juniors and seniors are expected to dress appropriately for this career event, please wear business casual clothing that day. The PSAT will be administered to sophomores and juniors who registered on Tuesday, October 27th. Please ensure your student's timely arrival at school. They should also bring a fully charged Chromebook.

U of HAWAI’I FOOTBALL

On Friday, October 9, 2026, the University of Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warriors football team—with 74 players and 54 personnel—stepped onto our Arizona Lutheran Academy football field for a pregame practice prior to their matchup against Arizona State University. Four AZ Lutheran Seniors who are members of the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s SID program had the opportunity to interview them and capture the excitement.

 Dear families and supporters of Arizona Lutheran Academy,

This upcoming election is critically important for Arizona families who believe parents should have the freedom to choose the educational environment that best meets their children’s needs. Arizona has long been a national leader in school choice, and programs like Empowerment Scholarship Accounts and scholarship tax credits have given thousands of families access to options that may otherwise be out of reach.

The outcome of this election will determine whether those opportunities remain protected and available for future generations. For every family that depends on school choice—and for every child whose success depends on the right learning environment - this election is not just another political contest; it is a defining moment for preserving educational freedom in Arizona. We are members of the Arizona Christian Education Coalition (AZCEC), and they and other pro-school choice organizations have tirelessly worked to protect those rights, but we need you to help as well.

Here are some things you can do:

• Make sure you and your circles of influence vote. Many midterm elections are determined by only a few hundred votes. State legislative elections can be decided by a handful of votes. If everyone in our community goes out and votes – we can make the difference.

BUS PASSES

All students riding the bus (morning or afternoon) must purchase a bus pass and present it to the bus driver so each ride can be marked as used. Passes cost $42.50 each and cover 10 rides. You may purchase multiple passes at once using either of the following methods:

• Online: Purchase your pass online. Please include the student’s full name in the memo field, then email Mrs. Solofra so she can call your student to the office to pick it up.
• In Person: Stop by the school office to pay and pick up the pass directly, or send payment with your student to purchase and pick it up at the office.

Reminder that NHS officers are hosting a blood drive on our campus next Wednesday, October 14, from 11am until 3pm. Students (age 16+), parents, and community members are invited to participate. SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY

 

ASU APPLICATIONS FOR SENIORS

From October 1-12 ASU is waiving application fees. So if your senior is planning on applying to ASU and would like to save about $50, now is the time to apply!

FAFSA is OPEN!

Any senior who is planning on further education next fall - college/university, community college, trade or tech school - should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Completing this form will ensure your student qualifies for as much financial aid as possible. Some schools and organizations also require that the FAFSA is completed in order to receive scholarship money. The application is now open. To complete this form:

1. The student and one parent each need to create an StudentAid.gov account.

2. After creating an account, you can then start the FAFSA form. You will be completing the FAFSA for 2027-28 (not 2026-27).

Over the last few years, the FAFSA form has been simplified and is pretty easy to complete. Advice for completing it can be found here. The form will draw on two main parts of the student’s and parents’ financial picture - what was submitted on taxes for 2025 (this information is automatically submitted - you don't typically need tax forms handy) and then current balances in checking, savings and non-retirement accounts. Depending on your specific circumstances there may be more or less information you will need to provide.

The FAFSA can be completed at any time, however, each college has its priority deadlines, so check individual schools for dates and be sure to complete it before those deadlines.

Mrs. List is taking a group of students to the local theater for a live performance of Mary Poppins the Musical.  We still have a few spots left. 

If you've only seen the movie, you're in for a treat—the stage production takes the magic to a whole new level with incredible choreography, flying effects, and iconic songs like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Step in Time.

Yep! The fun begins on Monday! Be sure your student arrives on time to be tallied.

Where does my child purchase a dance ticket?
Tickets for the Homecoming Dance will be on sale for $15 for a single ticket and $25 for a couple’s ticket. Cash or credit accepted. Find your StuCo reps in the gym lobby at lunch next Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Does my child have to participate in every game?

No. Students sign up for games they are interested in playing. 

Can parents still volunteer?

Yep, in fact we need you! Find the Sign Up form here.

When's the dance?

Homecoming dance at AZ Lutheran, Oct. 3 from 7:00-10:00pm

What should my child wear to the dance?

Dress code info can be found in a previous post.

The dress code mentions tuxes. Do guys usually wear tuxes? 

Not usually. A shirt & tie are more common.

Can you explain "Royalty"?

Students voted and selected six people from their class as royalty. View the photos here. Students will vote again to select one guy and one girl for each class. This Homecoming court will be announced at halftime of the football game on Oct. 2.

The JV football game scheduled for Monday, September 21, has been canceled by our opponent due to team injuries and a lack of available players.

FAFSA WORKSHOP

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens for this year’s seniors on October 1. Seniors considering any type of education next year should complete this important form to maximize their financial aid offers. LUNCHTIME COLLEGE TABLES

Throughout the year, various college representatives will visit and set up tables during lunchtime. Students of all ages are welcome to stop by, chat with these reps, and learn about different educational opportunities available after high school.

Next week on Monday, Accelerated Pathways Career College will be visiting. This tech school offers a variety of certificate options, from entry-level medical careers to paralegal studies and skilled trades such as welding, electrical, and plumbing.

On Tuesday, Grand Canyon University will have representatives here. All students are welcome to stop and talk to them, but any junior or senior considering GCU should definitely stop by and introduce themselves.

Please encourage your child to stop at the tables and learn about these options.

The area's largest college fair, the NACAC College Fair, will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center on Sunday, September 27, from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Hundreds of colleges will be represented, all in one place, so it's a great opportunity to explore a wide variety of options.
