We are still in need of 11 volunteers for food service at the Gala on March 28. If your child still needs service hours, or simply wants to attend because it's a fun event, sign up here.

Notes about service hours:

GRADUATION ATTIRE

Graduation is quickly approaching, and we know you're proud and excited about your child's walking across the stage. It's a milestone in anyone's life.

While everyone has unique and special cultures and backgrounds, we must maintain this event as an AZ Lutheran event. It is the completion of the school program that we are celebrating, something that unifies us beyond culture and backgrounds.
Therefore, it is our policy that no decorations and additional garb may be worn on the cap and gown (exceptions are the cords provided by the school for academic distinction). It is the black and cap and gown and gold stole that represent our school.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. In this way we can avoid an uncomfortable situation the morning of graduation.

PROTECT EDUCATIONAL FREEDOM

There are several things everyone can do immediately to encourage friends and family to oppose attempts to put the “Protect Education, Accountability Now” initiative on the November general election ballot.

First and foremost, pray! Pray for protection of educational freedom in Arizona. Pray that the opposition will NOT collect the necessary signatures. Pray that the opposition will have their hearts changed and see that school choice is about putting students first, not funding school systems. Pray that peoples’ eyes will be opened to the harm this ballot initiative would bring to Arizona students, their families, and our private Christian Schools.

Encourage everyone in your school community to Decline to Sign the petition.

Become informed and share the facts about the initiative with others.

a. Learn more at AZ Loves ESAs. This is a great resource!

b. Check out AZCEC’s Action Center to print a Decline to Sign flyer and to share your school choice story.

c. Read this article from the Goldwater Institute, which breaks down the negative impact this initiative would have on Arizona students and private schools.

Financially support the Decline to Sign movement by giving to AZ Loves ESA and/or AZCEC. Their efforts cost money, and they need your support to get the word out! Arizona has been one of the top states for school choice for 30 years. This initiative would turn the clock back tremendously on educational freedom for Arizona students and families.

THANK YOU FOR DONATING TO THE GALA

To our parents and families,

They say it takes a village, but after seeing the results of our Gala Student Competition, I think "village" might be an understatement. It is truly wonderful to see our AZ Lutheran family working together to support our students!

I am writing to thank every single one of you who contributed to our auction. Whether you asked for donations, or provided a cash gift, a hand-crafted item, a themed basket, a donation for the NHS baskets, or an item from our Amazon wish list, your generosity has been incredible. You will receive (or may have already received) a separate note for your tax records, but I wanted to reach out and say thank you.

Our Gala team is currently busy adding these items to our auction catalog so we are ready for bidding to open online on March 25.

The Gala is an amazing night of support for our students, and we would love to have you attend as a guest or volunteer. As one parent shared, "I can see this is the event of the year!" It is always heart-warming to see the generosity of our Gala guests—many of whom give not because they know a student personally, but simply because they value Christian education. We would love for you to join us at the Gala on March 28, if you are able!

We truly appreciate your generous heart.

On behalf of the Gala team,
Jen Bode

AUCTION ITEMS ARE ARRIVING!

The gifts from our Amazon Wish List are rolling in—almost half have been purchased already! Thanks to all who've donated so far. These will be wonderful additions to our auction baskets at the Gala.

Tax deductible gift:
Because we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. When you purchase an item from our Amazon Wish List, it is considered an "in-kind" (non-cash) donation. To claim this on your taxes, you should keep your Amazon purchase confirmation as proof of the item's cost, as the IRS requires donors to determine the "fair market value" of non-cash gifts. Additionally, we will provide a written acknowledgment for your records to help you with your annual filing.

Question:
One Amazon gift arrived from Cassy (England) Forbis & Matt Forbis, but we don't have a way to thank them. If you know them, please reach out to them to thank them on our behalf, and let us know so we can send them a written acknowledgment for their records. (Contact Jen Bode at JBode@ALAcoyotes.org).

EVERY gift will raise funds for our campus improvements AND counts towards the Gala Homeroom Competition. Thanks again for your support of the Gala!

SCHOOL CHOICE PETITION

Dear families,

A petition effort is currently underway that could significantly limit Educational Savings Accounts (ESA) and negatively impact families across Arizona who rely on school choice to access Christian education.

This effort will require over 255,000 signatures to qualify for the ballot. We want our Arizona Lutheran families to be well informed before you are asked to sign. The most important step right now is simple: families must understand what is at stake and decline to sign.

Please contact Principal Rosenbaum or me with questions.

BAKER, CRAFTER, OR FOOD SERVER?

We are seeking volunteers for the Gala with specific gifts. Read on to see if God has given you any of these talents!

Are you a baker?
  • We are planning a dessert dash game and seeking 22 bakers to donate a dessert that serves 10. (That's a LOT of desserts, so yes, we need you!) Or do you have a friend who's a baker? Ask if they'd donate a dessert!
  • The ideal dessert would be served on a platter (returned to you) and elegant enough to be eaten with a fork.
  • We have limited refrigeration space, so ideally it would be delivered to AZ Lutheran on the day of the Gala, Saturday, March 28.

Are you a crafter or builder?
We are seeking someone who could create something like this out of cardboard. (We can design and print the exterior labeling, but need help with the cardboard base.)

Do you have catering or food-service experience? We are seeking a Gala food-service lead to work with our caterer and with 5 adults and up to 30 students. You would organize the team to serve the Gala buffet, set and clear tables, assist guests, and assist with dessert service.

And we are hoping to borrow one item. Do you have a trade-show style spinner wheel we could borrow (similar to this)

If you could possibly help in any of these areas, reach out to Jen Bode with all of your questions! (JBode@ALAcoyotes.org or 602-268-8686 ext. 137)

AZ LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK

Did you know that we are part of one of the largest private school systems in the U.S.?

But it’s the small, personal moments that define us: a student’s t-shirt declaring they are a "Child of God," the harmony of voices in worship, and the beautiful transition of "opposing" players becoming high school teammates.

From Pre-K to 12th grade, we are blessed to walk this path together. We invite you to watch and share this video to celebrate the impact of Lutheran education in Arizona!

Watch to the end to hear voices from several of our Lutheran Elementary Schools lifting in praise!
